Position notice

Verdict: hired as The Workflow Gremlin.
The Workflow Gremlin
You did it twice, so you automated it. Now it runs at dawn and nobody else knows how.
The position
WANTED: one small, efficient chaos engine. You have never done the same task three times; by the second you were already building something. Your scripts rename files, chase invoices, summarise inboxes and wish people happy birthday. Half the team's process is quietly held up by a pipeline you set up on a slow Tuesday. The successful candidate will hold strong opinions about triggers, accept the word "manually" only in the past tense and promise, this time, to write the documentation.
Strengths
- Turns a weekly chore into zero minutes, forever
- Sees the process hiding behind the mess
- Gives colleagues back hours they didn't know they were losing
Red flags
- Is the only person alive who knows what the "misc_FINAL" automation does
- Spent a full afternoon automating a ten-minute task and regrets nothing
Ideal role
Director of Things That Run by Themselves
Natural rival
The Polite Ghostwriter spends an hour on one email. You built a machine that sends a thousand. Neither of you is backing down.
Interview question to ask one of these
"Describe something you automated that broke. How did people find out, and what did you change so it could never fail silently again?"
